Students with disabilities to get writers in SSC, HSC

Students with disabilities to get writers in SSC

Good news for physically disable students and slow learners, (Higher Secondary Certificates) and SSC(Secondary School Certificates) exams. A PIL(Public Interest Litigation ) was filed by group of doctors, which stated denying writers to physically disabled students is violation of human rights by National institute of Open Schooling(NIOS). NIOS denied writers to physically disabled students. This initiative was taken by child psychiatrist Dr Harish Shetty and other doctors.

Students with disabilities to get writers in SSC

Actually a Government resolution (GR) was issued on 8th January 2016 by Maharashtra government in which it mentioned writers are allowed with physically disabled students in their 10th and 12th board exams. Soon the government websites will be updated with all the information.

The government will soon be opening learning disability centres all over the state, there are only few in numbers. The disability of the students will be assessed by doctors and will be provided with the certificates. On the basis of the percentage measures they will be provided writers.

In order to maintain the transparency there are certain rules like for a 10th student i.e. SSC, only student till 9th standard will be allowed as writer and for 12th standard i.e. HSC only student till 11th standard will be allowed as writer. But the parents have to wholly and solely arrange the writers on their own, that too at the time of filling the examination forms, while applying for admit card. Just imagine a scenario that the writer backs out, then the examination controller is to be informed in case they can provide some help.

The category of physically disable student is quite enormous, how to measure it? It can never be done in vague manner. The disability can be in vision, movement etc. They should go through proper diagnostic tests before providing certificate by the medical authority.

It is never easy to get a writer for writing exams. The government should provide some other technical courses for these kind of students, so that the things goes easy for them. They even have the right to lead their life with dignity.

At last it is a brilliant move by the government by allowing writers for physically disables students and slow learners. Now physically disable students will be able to complete their education, their won’t be any drop out. All children will be provided with their basic rights. No rights will be violated. They will be allowed to take education like any other normal child.
